Proper Storage Temperature

What is the best temperature at which to store wine?

White wines and red wines prefer different temperatures to preserve their quality and their characteristics. The industry standard suggests 55 degrees F (12.7 C) for cellaring wines.  Some authorities recommend a range from 52-57 degrees F (11.1-13.8 C).  White wines, of course, favor the cooler range.
